The Launch event for HASTAC scholars took place on September 21, 2023, and we were delighted to see the virtual gathering of familiar and new faces at our Welcome Event. This recap aims to provide you with a glimpse into what we discussed at the event.
We were thrilled to welcome scholars from the 2022-2024 cohort to another year of HASTAC Programming. Your presence and engagement continue to make our community vibrant and dynamic. HASTAC Scholars Co-Directors Parisa Setayesh and Coline Chevrin, discussed the previous year’s programs.
Feedback and Suggestions: During the event, we discussed your thoughts on past HASTAC activities and solicited your feedback and suggestions. Your insights will help us enhance the programming at HASTAC scholars.
We were happy to hear you had enjoyed participating in the Digital Fridays, Collaborative book review project, and Scholar spotlights and excited to introduce the exciting lineup of activities for the 2023-2024 academic year. We asked all HASTAC scholars to indicate the programs they are interested in participating in this form. Please fill up the form by Sept. 30th and we will follow up with them with the next steps.
Here’s what’s in store:
Digital Fridays: Mark your calendars for the first session on October 20th at 4 p.m., followed by the second session on December 1st at 4 p.m.
Scholar Spotlight: A platform for highlighting your projects and contributions if you are interested in participating, make sure you mention it on this form before Sept 30th.
Collaborative Book Review: You’ll have the chance to vote for the book and participate in the review process. We’ll organize a meeting to walk you through the process.
We are also starting a new activity this year:
Dialogues: Dialogues aims to provide a structured platform for HASTAC Scholars to delve into the depths of each other’s research, forging connections, and gaining new perspectives from their peers. It’s an opportunity to explore diverse fields within the humanities, arts, sciences, and technology while nurturing a sense of community and collaboration. We look forward to many interesting conversations!
Overview of Humanities Commons: We provided a brief tour of the website, and you can find the video here and the previous year’s more extensive tutorial here.
Please remember to fill out the 2023 fall program participation form by September 30th.
